Cyber Patrol 5.0 for Homes, Schools and Businesses

Newest version of internet filter prepares users for the millennium by offering new user interface, more choices, more flexibility

In response to consumer demand for enhanced Internet filter products, the Cyber Patrol unit of The Learning Company today announced Cyber Patrol 5.0 for the home, office and classroom. Cyber Patrol 5.0 offers users the next generation of filtering technology with a new filter engine, expanded CyberLIST categories, additional features and functionality, and a menu-driven user interface that allows customers to navigate through the software with ease.

The new user interface provides easy-to-find commands, set-up options, help sections, and advanced settings, which are consistent across the entire line of Cyber Patrol products. Additionally, the new interface allows a direct link between the user and important online information on Internet filtering and using Cyber Patrol. With the enhanced communication options, Cyber Patrol users will find the quickest way yet to directly give and receive feedback on the CyberNOT List, Cyber Patrol's proprietary list of categorized material that is deemed inappropriate for children.

To make installation and operation easier for network administrators, the new release will automatically seek and use system parameters to eliminate some of the customized setup required by the administrator. The CyberLIST categories will be expanded and reorganized to allow more detailed and flexible control of filtering for a broader community of users, giving educators increased selection on filtering levels. For both the CyberNOT List and the Sports & Entertainment List, Cyber Patrol users will be able to choose entire categories of sites, or select specific subcategories, as desired. For example, the new Internet category will offer selection of subcategories such as free email, Web chat, and search engines. The Cyber Patrol 5.0 line will begin shipping in September 1999.

A full-featured demonstration version of Cyber Patrol can be obtained from the Web site at www.cyberpatrol.com, or by phone at 1-800-828-2608.
