SafeMail released - it's about your privacy Highware's new SafeMail lets Macintosh users communicate securely over the internet. Users can communicate with others who use SafeMail, or with people who use a different implementation of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) -- Mac, Windows or Unix. The program is extremely easy to use and offer public-key encryption. The great merit of public keys is that no one needs to agree on passwords, or find a way to exchange those passwords securely. If they want to communicate in private, they first exchange their public keys -- using ordinary email, for example. Perfectly safe. Because no one can do anything with a public key except encrypt a message for the person who made the key. The sender can also digitally 'sign' a message or file. That lets the person who receives the message check that it came from the sender, and that it hasn't been altered. SafeMail comes in two versions: SafeMail and SafeMail Pro. SafeMail is offered as shareware and is available only by electronic channels. SafeMail Pro will be released on August 23.
