Free Internet Voice Messaging Service Gets New Look, Features

RocketTalk, Inc. has announced an number major feature upgrades and other enhancements for its flagship product, RocketTalk - the planet's free Internet voice messaging service. Scheduled for release on May 22, 1999, RocketTalk v1.2 includes an updated user interface, an enhanced player utility, a new Web-based message retrieval service, upgraded infrastructure, and sent/received-message confirmation, among other improvements.

RocketTalk is a free downloadable software client that allows subscribers to send voice messages to other RocketTalk users, and/or to e-mail accounts. The user interface is designed so that virtually anyone can send and receive messages quickly and easily.

The newly-upgraded player utility, called RocketPlayer, is appended to any RocketTalk message that is sent to an e-mail account. The message appears as a single file attachment in the recipient's inbox, which can be saved and then played by simply double-clicking on the file. The enhanced RocketPlayer allows the recipient to pause or stop during message playback, or to save the message directly to the desktop. RocketPlayer now also includes a hotlink direct to the RocketTalk web site where the product can be downloaded.

RocketTalk's new Web-based message retrieval service allows subscribers to view and play their messages from any computer with Internet access - regardless of whether RocketTalk is installed on that system. The Web service uses RocketPlayer to play, pause, stop or save messages, providing convenient message access from remote locations. The Web-based RocketTalk service also provides message histories.

At the suggestion of RocketTalk subscribers, the company also redesigned the user interface, adding a notification feature which confirms that a message has been sent to the central RocketTalk server, or received at the subscriber's RocketTalk client.

RocketTalk requires a multimedia computer (with sound card, speakers, mouse and microphone) and an Internet connection. Typical users include families with members in other states or countries; telecommuters, mobile workers, and other professionals; those who don't, can't, or simply prefer not to type; and users who prefer a more "personal" method of messaging.

RocketTalk is available for computers running Windows 95, 98, or NT. RocketTalk, Inc. is the developer of RocketTalk, the planet's first free voice messaging service for the Internet. The company's headquarters is in Fullerton, California, with offices in San Jose, California, email info@rockettalk.com, Phone: 714-449-8702
