Ganymede Software's Chariot -- wants Mac users Ganymede Software has a product called Chariot that reproducibly measures network performance for a variety of protocols between machines called Endpoints. From the Chariot console, which runs on Windows 95, 98, or NT, a user selects what tests, protocols, and Endpoints to use. The Endpoint software runs on at least the following platforms (as well as some others in our labs): Windows NT on x86 and Alpha Windows 9X, and 3.1 Solaris on SPARC and x86 Linux NetWare HP-UX SGI IRIX SCO UnixWare Digital UNIX AIX OS/2 MVS This diversity of Endpoints extends the reach of Chariot users, and Ganymede is proud of the breadth of its coverage. But Ganymede has not yet ported the Endpoint software to the Macintosh, because we haven't seen evidence of sufficient demand for a Mac Endpoint. I personally suspect this apparent lack of demand may be due to the deft and silent way in which Macintosh users pass by software that excludes the Mac. OTOH, I suppose it is possible that the set of people interested in both network performance and also in Macs is small.
